Spring 2012 Frequently Asked
Questions
When and where are games played?
Our primary fields for games are at the James A. Woody Community Center (see
attached map). All games for all Divisions are played at this facility
unless your Division
participates in inter-league play. Major and above Softball Divisions often
inter-league,
while Junior and above Baseball Divisions often inter-league. If a Division
participates
in inter-league play, games could be played at many locations in the Victor
Valley as
well as at our home facility. Games will begin immediately after Opening
Ceremonies
on Saturday, March 24th. The regular season is scheduled to end on June 2nd
with a
City Championship going until June 16th, and Closing Day on June 16th.
When and where are practices held?
Practices are held at various parks and schools in Apple Valley. Locations,
days and
times will be communicated by your manager after teams are formed. No
requests for
specific locations, days of the week or times can be granted.
When should I hear from a coach?
Teams should be formed by February 20th. If you have not heard from a
manager by
March 2nd please call the league number at (760) 247-5441 or send an email
to
avallnews@gmail.com.
What do I need for my child to play?
The league provides a jersey and a hat. Parents will need to purchase pants,
socks,
and belt. Please do not buy these items until AFTER you have met with your
team
where the colors will be decided. Players need to have a baseball/softball
glove;
cleats are recommended. Athletic supporters (hard cups) are required for
catchers but
are HIGHLY recommended for all baseball players.
Why do I need to provide my Social Security Number to volunteer?
Little League requires that social security numbers be used when doing
background
checks. Background checks may be requested to be done in person if you do
not want
to write your SSN on your volunteer application (Please note on the SSN
line).
